Are you gonna repeat the same mistake in 2014 as you did in 2013?
As we approach the end of 2013, it always reminds me of the movie Ground Hog Day by Bill Murrey. You know the part where he gets up every morning and lives the same day over and over again. Why it reminds me of that is because, as we approach the New Year, oftentimes most people have plans how to live the next year but end up being exactly the same, and there is no growth. Then two or three years after, they realize “What happened?”
It also reminds me of a quote by Mary Kay Ash: “There are three types of people in this world: those people who make things happen, those who watch things happen and those who wonder what happened.” I really hope that you are not the third type of people where you just wondered what happened to your life. I hope that all of us will become more like the people who make things happen.
If you want a productive 2014, you want the greatest year ever, you have to plan for success. You have to plan for it to happen. It doesn’t happen randomly. It doesn’t come to you. What I really want you to do is not wait until January to prepare your year. Because that’s what most people do, they wait for January 1st then they wake up from their hangover and then go “I guess I’d better plan for the year” and by the time they do, they start procrastinating and then they would realize it’s already February. By the time they take action on things, it’s already March and a third of the year has already gone through. So I’d rather you do what most of us do, instead of winding down 2013, do what my Nitro members do.
Basically, those Nitro members and I spent 3 or 4 days in Bali and we spent some time hanging out and strategically plan what we’re going to do, specifically month by month, in 2014. That’s what I encourage you to do this year. This is the best time. There are three reasons for this. There are three strategies you can implement right away.
If you want the best 2014 ever, you want to do these three things:
1. Set the target. You’ve got to figure out what exactly do you want to achieve in 2014. What are the targets you are looking for? What are your goals that you want to accomplish by the end of 2014? Once you have that, you want to do step 2.
2. Mapping out the attack. Mapping out the attack means that you will line up exactly your targets/goals. You’re going to map out how you will achieve those goals. What strategies do you want to implement to make sure those goals are going to be met?
3. Pre-launch Prep. Right now, we still have a few weeks left before the end of the year and this is where your pre-launch prep is. Those are the last minute things you need to prepare for yourself so that when January 1st hits, you are ready to go. All the stuff is done. All the background information is done. If you still have things you might need, like you need to find certain people or certain mentors, so that when January 1st hits, you are can already start to implement those strategies and plans. So, whether it would be certain promotions or you might want to write a book or whatever you want to do, all those plans are already set in to action. Everything’s already ready to go. No need to draft all these last minute ideas.
